The American Turners is a national organization founded in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1848 by German immigrants. Our motto, "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body", explains the purpose of the American Turners. We are a family organization, encouraging people of all ages to be mentally and physically active. The American Turners NY Bronx society is situated on Eastchester Bay in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx, directly across from City Island providing us with an amazing waterfront view. We are one of the 51 other ATNY societies located in 12 Districts throughout the United States.
We offer a wide range of physical and social activities for our members and guests of our members. We have a full nautilus room, full basketball court, volleyball courts, a club room, fireplace room, billiards room, sitting room, a full service bar and restaurant. There is a window in the bar overlooking the gym so that one can enjoy spirits while watching members play basketball, volleyball, racquetball. For the summer months, we have an Olympic size swimming pool and a wading pool for toddlers. Both pools are supervised, at all times, by certified life guards.
Throughout the year members enjoy various sports activities, dining and special events such as a New Year’s Eve Party, Karaoke nights, barbecues, beach parties and much more. We also offer a wide array of events during the winter months such as a men's hike, art classes in the bar, cultural competitions, lectures, Veteran's Day celebrations, October Fest, and a children's Christmas party. Members often gather in our club rooms for card games and board games. Contact the front office for more information on how to become a member today.
